NaNoWriMo 2019

NaNoWriMo 2019 Within The Sights!

NaNoWriMo 2019 is nearing the mid-point of completion and I’m killing it!

I’m sitting at over 40,000 words of the 50,000 word target, and the novel I’m working on is almost completed. China Girl, my SciFi Crime novel is nearing completion. I just need to complete Two more chapters and an epilogue. It is my hope that this will be done tomorrow, and people still want to see the cover. Here it is.

I talk about NaNo all the time, but if you haven’t heard of it, take a look at what is done by many of us authors over a one month period. Each year there are literally over 300,000 writers of different experience levels driving themselves to complete their work. Either full time or not, writing 50,000 words is daunting.Remember essays in school? The goal to write 750-1000 words and you sweated. Now think of doing 1200 words a day! That’s NaNo.

So while I sit back and smile at the 3,000 plus words I’ve written every day I cannot imagine what my time would be without writing. It’s an outlet. A way of life. Hammering of the keys. Imagination freeing. And I’ll not give it up any time soon. Imagine something you truly love to do and then realize you need to give it up. No thank you.

As we come to a close of NaNoWriMo this year, I’ll look back at how many books I have created during this special challenge:

  • A Spear In Flight
  • A Sharp Spear Shaft
  • Slashed by a Spear Shaft
  • In Service of the Realm
  • The Hordes
  • The Family
  • The Mother
  • China Girl

Nine years I’ve participated in NaNo, and the word count achieved.

And as this year comes to an end, I wonder what the next one will bring.
